Entry Fees: 2008 Entry Form Race/Course Information: There are three events in the Daffodil run. First: at 8:30 there is a Free Kid's run (children 10 and under). This event is run inside the park on a grassy field. All the kids get a nice medal when they finish. At 8:45 the 5k run and 10k runs start on Penn Valley Drive. The 5k Walk starts inside the park on the bicycle path. Runner will stay on the road for one mile and turn right on Spenceville Road. Walkers will stay on the cycle path, cross Penn Valley Drive and will be directed onto a dirt path into Ready Springs School and will then exit onto Spencevlle Road. One lane of Spenceville Road will be closed for the race There is a water stop at the 5k /turn around for walkers and 5k runners. Runners will return on the road and Walkers will return on the path. The 10k runners will continue on Spenceville Road, cross Indian Springs Road, and continue another 1/2 mile to the second water stop/turn around. Due to the lane closure and it's resulting disruption of local traffic, 10k runners must be able to run at a 13 minute mile pace minimum. There will be a 18 minute "cut off" at the 5k turnaround. At this point, 10k runners will be assigned a 5k number and allowed to finish the race. 10K runners will return on Spenceville Road to Penn Valley Drive. Runners and walkers must stay in the same lane they used going out when they return. CHP and Nevada Country Officers and Volunteers will be controlling the course. All runners and walkers will cross Penn Valley Drive onto the bicycle path and return to Western Gateway Park. On the course, every mile is marked and a one mile split will be called. Finish Line/Awards ceremony: There are separate finish chutes for runners and walkers. Walkers should stay to the right. The 5k walk is not timed. UNREGISTERED RUNNERS MUST NOT GO THROUGH THE FINISH CHUTE. RUNNERS WHO HAVE PREVIOUS FINISHED SHOULD NOT GO THROUGH THE CHUTE AGAIN WITH FRIENDS WHO FINISH LATER. These actions create errors in the scoring system and cause delay in the award ceremony. The Award Ceremony will start when all 5k runners have finished and results have been verified. 10k results will be announced shortly after. Refreshments: There will be water, fruit and pastries at the finish line for all participants.
